"What we do is more important than what we say or what we say we believe."

-bell hooks, a progressive pedagogue

With over 20 years of teaching experience at all levels from head-start preschools to postgraduate seminars, Kate has worked in universities, communities, in both private & public schools, conservatories and theatre companies in the United States and abroad.

As an experienced artistic director, designer and facilitator, Kate is qualified to teach a variety of courses. These range from the academic theory-based in literature, history or context to more practical hands-on courses in theatre appreciation, directing, design, acting/performance, or creating original work on stages, classrooms or in communities. Regardless of what or where- Kate’s teaching style is applied, student centered, socially active and above all else inclusive. Her courses and/or workshops often contain a community-service aspect, wherein participants use their course learning to give back to the community through performances or workshops that reinforce & share learning experiences.

"As for Kate, NO WORDS! She was FABULOUS! So conscientious, so thoughtful, so direct, SO HELPFUL [...] she really really helped us and the people that had her throughout the year were so FORTUNATE.

[...]

She is fantastic. Please keep her, Papua New Guinea, America, even if she moves to space honestly. She was incredible."

-Lernice Parker

"Following her being my lecturer in 2018, Kate has since supervised my academic writings and professional performances, from my essays to my Honour's and Master's reserch papers and practical presentations. I have gained awards and nominations professionally and excelled academically as a result of her constructive and continous help. This is indicative of her nurture and interest in the development and progress of the students in her charge not only when teaching her specified course, but also beyond. She is a team player, a leader, and an extraordinary lecturer and facilitator, with great communication and people skills. She is able to address sensitive topics with the necessary compassion, and resolve conflict amicably. Kate is admired for her focus, diligence, outstanding knowledge of her field of study.

“This experience has been incredible from beginning to end. It has surely been challenging but I would not want to do it with anyone else. Kate, thank you for trusting us and equipping us with all we needed and more. You always went above and beyond and as a team we felt the need to always do the same. The marks that we get from this course pale in comparison to the experience we had."

-Kylie Fisher
